Pocket Comes to the E-Reader: Pocket Now Built Into all Kobo Devices

Today’s e-readers offer a natural reading experience, but to date, e-ink has been reserved primarily for books. There’s never been an easy way to save web content to your e-reader in the same seamless way that Pocket already does for phones, tablets and computers.

At Pocket, we know that a great reading experience is important—in fact, our most active users read the equivalent of three books worth of content every month!—which is why we jumped at the chance to work with Kobo to bring Pocket to all their devices.

Introducing Pocket on Kobo

Kobo, one of the world’s fastest-growing e-reading companies, has integrated Pocket into all of its devices, serving over 14 million readers in more than 190 countries.

This makes Kobo the first e-reader company to bring the convenience of the Pocket platform to its e-reader as well as its tablets. Pocket on Kobo offers a beautiful reading experience for your saved articles, with seamless syncing to your Pocket account across all devices.

Your Books and Web Articles, All in One Place

Now, you can save any article you find on the web—or directly from apps on your mobile devices like Twitter, Flipboard and Zite—and have it appear right inside your Kobo e-reader.

Like any Pocket experience, your e-reader will automatically stay up to date with the items in your Pocket account no matter where you save or read your items.

All the Features You Expect from Pocket

Kobo’s Pocket integration has all of the features you’ve come to expect from a Pocket experience:

  • Always in Sync: Your list stays up to date, and new items appear automatically on the device when they’re saved.
  • Archive, Favorite and Delete: Manage and organize your list like you would in any Pocket app.
  • Offline Access to Saved articles: Articles that appear on your Kobo will be available even without an Internet connection.
  • Beautiful Reading View: Articles displayed in Kobo’s reader look fantastic, and you’ll be able to adjust fonts, sizing, and adjust the experience to suit your needs.

How to Get Pocket on Kobo

Pocket will be available on Kobo e-readers as part of Kobo’s enhanced Reading Life platform, in the Articles from Pocket section on the Kobo 6” Aura and on all previous e-readers with their over-the-air software update. (Update: As of Monday, September 16th, Pocket will be available on the Aura, and updates to existing devices including the Glo and Aura HD will be coming over the coming weeks and months. Current Pocket users can simply log in for instant access to their list, and new users can sign up for a free Pocket account.
